We have subordinated everything to the patron saint of the church and to his Master – the final words of the Gospel according to St. Matthew (Matthew 28:18-20), which he presents as the only one of the evangelists, became the motif for the central composition. Christ’s baptism in the Jordan River (cf. Matthew 3) is the prototype of every baptism done by His Church on the whole Earth according to His commission. We have distilled this commission into the infinite surface of the ceiling along with a Marian motif of the revelation to St. Joseph. Another quotation from the Matthew’s gospel (Matthew 16:18-19) about calling Simon Peter – the Rock of the Church – closes the surface of the ceiling in the nave of the church.
St. Matthew is also emphasized in a composition of the Last Supper which dominates the sanctuary ceiling, as well as one of the four pillars of faith in Christ on the pilasters of the church in Vysoka nad Kysucou.
